How does it work?   Watch this youtube video

Lyft, a new ride sharing service and competitor to Uber (which I recently wrote about here), just launched their  “Lyftapalooza” promotion and they are giving away 50 rides up to $25 each in the next 15 days.  They are launching in 24 markets in 24 hours on April 24,” or alternatively, as “Lyftapalooza.”   This is not exactly a taxi/black car service like Uber, but its airbnb.com for car rides.   It seems anyone can become a driver after an application & background check and can do this to offset costs of their car or just earn some extra money — maybe by just giving someone a lyft who is headed in the same direction as you.

  1. Lyft is awesome! I live in Baltimore, MD and I do not have a vehicle. I have a lot of experiences with public transportation here, but Lyft offers something much more. It’s convenient, safe, and affordable. I have also met some really cool people.

  2. Lyft and Uber suck in Charlotte, the apps won’t let us do any of the promo codes and always say that we either have one applied already or that the code isn’t valid in my city. This makes me so upset and I wish they would fix this.

    • Do you mean the codes don’t work even for new customers? If you are an existing customer then they usually don’t give out so many promotions.
