SUMMARY

Sadly, it was time to leave The Maldives and head back to New York (via Istanbul and Warsaw). We were flying business class on Turkish Airlines and were given access to Maldives Airport lounge called “Leeli Lounge”.  This is part of a round trip award flight I booked in business class from New York to The Maldives for 120k United miles per person.

There is only one lounge at the airport in Male, Leeli Lounge, so all the airlines sent their passengers here.  As expected, it was crowded when we arrived but there was plenty of space in the back room.

The food was not great…same goes for the wifi.  I think there were just too many people logged on at the same time.  The wifi only worked after the front desk reset the router.  I was a bit hungry and was craving french fries so I bought some at the Burger King directly across from the lounge (this was my first time buying anything from Burger King as I try to keep it healthy).

I was very much looking forward to my Turkish Air flight and their hospitality.  This trip has spoiled us.  The Male to Istanbul flight was the last to depart so I was able to snap some photos of an empty lounge.

Maldives Airport Lounge seating

There are just a few of these reclining seats in a small room to the right just after you enter.  They are the best seats in the lounge.  We had to wait at least 30 minutes nearby for some people to leave.

FOOD

We tried a little bit of everything and none of it was very good.  The best part was the raw fruits and veggies.

  1. totally agree! only few things to eat and not good, passengers once entered got out again as the outside part of the airport (souvenir shops and nice food) was nicer than the lounge.Ahmed Amsel and Mohamed Mahfooz not at the standard of the passengers who use VIP lounges during worldwide travel.
