According to the New York Post, Gett just launched their ride sharing service in Manhattan and is offering a free ride (up to $20) + $10 flat-rate rides in Manhattan!
While Lyft and Uber duke it out for on-demand car service market share, Gett jumps into the competition. Gett launched last year and is now trying to catch up. They are backed by billionaire Len Blavatnik, so lets see what happens. Taxi drivers keep getting more bad news! I don't think I will ever need to take a smelly yellow cab again.
GETT A FREE RIDE
- Click to claim your first free ride (up to $20)
- $10 Flat rate rides in all of Manhattan for all of 2014
- No surcharge for bad weather, traffic, holidays, etc.
THE iPHONE APP
Gett's iPhone app is very similar to the competitor, Lyft and Uber, but it feels a bit clunky. When I signed up for the $20, I got the following message which says my $20 ride expires in 2214… I have 200 years to use it! Well clearly they are still working some things out.
WHERE IS IT AVAILABLE?
Gett is only available in select cities right now:
- London
- New York City
- Moscow
- St. Petersburg
- Jerusalem
- Tel Aviv
- Haifa
I tried out the app and there were not many cars available in Manhattan. There was a long wait of 20 minutes. They will need to add a lot more cars to make people want to use their service.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
- Right now, its only $10 to go anywhere in Manhattan
- This picture shows what the regular prices will be like:
HOW DO I REFER A FRIEND?
You will get your own referral code in the app after you sign up. Give it to your friends and they will get $20 credit towards their first ride. You will also get $20 credit after they take their first ride. If you use the link above, we both get a free ride credit of $20. You don't have to use my link but I appreciate if you do.
