Skyteam Elite Plus - Get Free Elite Status Match

Now through Friday, you can get Skyteam Elite status for 1 year if you have status at just about any airline or hotel chain. You get free instant Hilton Platinum status with certain credit cards. Aerolíneas Argentinas is offering a status match which expires Friday night Dec 21. Later, apply your status to any Skyteam airlines like Delta (in the US) or many others internationally, and get elite benefits below for the next year. I just submitted my Hilton Diamond status.

How to Get Skyteam Elite Status Match

EXPIRES Friday December 21 at 23:59 (Argentina time).

  1. Create an Aerolineas Plus account if you don't have one.
  2. Send an email with the below items and the subject “Desafío Status Match”
    • Aerolíneas Plus member number
    • Full name, surname and email address
    • Copy of the last statement or membership card. Your name and expiration date must show and must not be less than 3 months from when you send the request. (This Hilton digital membership card alone doesn't show an expiration date, so I included a screen shot from the website though it also doesn't show the expiration date).
  3. If you are approved, you should get an email confirmation.

Which Airline and Hotel Status can I use?

It looks like just about any airline or hotel chain.

  • Latam
  • Lifemiles / Avianca
  • Iberia
  • United
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Hilton

See the last sentence where they say just about any airline or hotel chain will do:

The airlines and hotel chains participating in the challenge are: Latampass de Latam, Smiles de Gol, LifeMiles de Avianca, Iberia Plus of Iberia, MileagePlus of United, Aadvatange of American Airlines, Executive Club of British Airways, Hilton Honors de Hilton. This list is not exhaustive and any other airline or hotel chain sent by the applicant will be subject to approval by Aerolíneas Plus.

What do I submit as proof of my status?

If you got the American Express Hilton Aspire Credit Card you should get an email with something like this. It seems to be the only thing that states your name, status, and expiration date. If not, most people will probably have to send a screen shot from their Hilton profile which doesn't show an expiration date.

What are the Skyteam Elite Status benefits?

There are two options – you may be upgraded to Gold or Platinum which equates to Elite or Elite Plus. See the Skyteam website for more details.

  • Aerolíneas Argentinas Gold = Skyteam Elite
    • You'll get extra baggage allowance, priority check-in, seating, boarding, and standby.
  • Aerolíneas Argentinas Platinum = Skyteam Elite Plus
    • You'll get all the above plus lounge access (the rest of the additional perks don't seem worth much)

  1. I haven’t had much experience with SkyTeam outside of Delta. How would Aerolineas status to be applied to Delta flights?

    • I havent tried it either, but based on some comments I read, its similar to booking an American Airlines flight using your British Airlines Avios then later calling AA and having them put your frequent flier number that has status on it.

  2. Can you recommend what to show as proof from Marriott Rewards, Starwood, Ritz-Carlton ?

    I’m having trouble pulling up a digital program membership card or statement with status on the apps or websites.

    • Yes, I think maybe you can send them a screen shot from the app which shows your status and how many nights you have done this year. It has your name and acct # but doesn’t show an expiration, though they can see that you have enough nights to stay Platinum for example for all of next year.

  3. I have diamond from spending 40k with amex ascend. On hilton website it says I’m gonna need more nights to keep it for nest year. Id imagine that in 2019 it would autorenew from amex. My question is where do I send them the screenshot from. The homepage on my profile would probably count against me and my membership card says nothing.

    • I sent a copy of my digital membership card which has no dates, plus the same screen where it mentions where I need more nights to keep the status (though I’ll keep the status b/c I have the card). Hilton will tell you the status is good for 1 calendar year but it doesnt show anywhere. I’d send whatever you can find that at least shows you have status…if they are accepting Hilton status then I’m sure they’ll quickly realize that they don’t show the date anywhere.

  4. I sent an email to the email address you mentioned, but I got this response:
    “Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
    The recipient’s mailbox is full and can’t accept messages now. Please try resending your message later, or contact the recipient directly”

    What should I do ?

    • I guess poor Magdalena has thousands of emails that she has to get through. I didn’t get any response at all so I assume my email went through. The flyertalk forum has the same comments coming through. So far I haven’t seen an alternate email address to use. You could try calling them?
