Chase Sapphire Preferred Card Improved offer: 55,000 Points Offer after $3k spend in 3 months (worth up to $3300)

Updated on May 25, 2015

Via Slickdeals, here is link for the 50k+5k offer.

Some people are reporting that they cannot get the 50k+5k offer to load (it worked for me using my desktop but not on iphone), so I've included the link to the 40k+5k offer here:

Chase just made their offer better, the highest I ever saw for this card. This may be available for a limited time – you get 50,000 points after spending only $3k in 3 months, PLUS another 5,000 points if you add an authorized user.  Many offers require you to spend $5,000 in 3 months.   Since you have to spend $3,000, you will get at least 3,000 points for a total of 58,000.

What can I do with the points?

You can transfer them to United 1:1.  United domestic round trip flights usually go for 25,000 miles, so you more than have enough for 2 round trip domestic flights.

Here are some good uses of the miles:

  • NYC to Aspen for 25,000 round trip in coach (one of the most expensive domestic flights I could find and have flown and has lots of availability).  You would otherwise have to pay about $750 cash, giving you a value of 3 cents per mile on the high end.
  • NYC to San Francisco for 25,000 round trip in coach or 50,000 in BusinessFirst.  The cash rate is $450 coach or $3,000 BusinessFirst.  This gives you a value of almost 2 cents to 6 cents per point.

So the 55,000 point bonus is worth around $1100-$3300.

I recently wrote about United's award flight prices increasing starting 2/1/2014, this is another good way to get some more miles and book a reward flight before the prices increase (just book it before 2/1/14)

What are you going to do with the points/miles?

[In full disclosure, the Reward Boss gets paid a commission if you use the link above for the 40k offer only, not the 50k offer (the 50k offer is better if you can get it to load for you). I research and post the best deals I can find, regardless of whether there is a commission available. You don't have to use my links but I really appreciate if you do.]
