UPSIDE.com is a new travel startup offering a $200 gift card when you book your next trip of $400+ (flight and/or hotel and/or Uber). Expires 8/31/17, so you have a week!

WHAT IS UPSIDE?

Upside is a new travel startup which lets you earn gift cards when you book travel (flight, hotel, and Uber). They are focusing on business travelers but it works for personal travel as well. They hope that once you try them even for personal trips, you'll want to use them for your business trips too. I've already booked my first trip with them and have my gift cards pending until after I complete my trip.

Why yes, thank you! Several readers have reported receiving additional perks like a free massage at the destination city, a free limo ride, free dry cleaning. I, unfortunately, didn't receive anything extra so perhaps they are randomly selecting customers to get this.

I did, however, get an email asking if I need any help choosing seats, frequent flier number, or global entry (‘Known Traveler Number').

EXAMPLES

Here are some examples that worked:

I was able to book a flight for just over $400 (NYC to California) and it worked.
Others I know booked flights for ~$350 + $50 Uber
$300 flight + $100 Uber

It seems that booking a package deal is NOT required if your flight or hotel is over $400 already.

HOW TO GET YOUR GIFT CARD

The gift card will be available within 72 hours of completing your travel. I think the most valuable gift card is probably for Amazon but there are many other choices including Whole Foods, Target, eBay, Home Depot and more.

HOW UBER CREDITS WORK

UBER credits must be using during the trip you booked. Let me explain:

If you need to add an Uber package to get you over the $400 requirement keep in mind the credits come in $25 increments and can only be used beginning 1 day prior to your flight date and 1 day after your return date.

For example, if you purchase a $100 Uber package and your flights are 1/10/18-1/15/18, you get 4 x $25 Uber credits that MUST be used anytime between 1/9/18-1/16/18.
