The Starwood American Express has brought back a popular promotion they ran last year where you earn 5,000 SPG Starpoints for every person you refer and gets approved for the SPG Amex.  Each point is worth around 2.5 to 3 cents per points, and often I can get more.

Today I'm writing from my hotel in Arequipa, Peru.  In a few days I will finish up my Peru trip which the hotels were mostly paid for by Starwood SPG points which I have been earning by applying for and using my favorite card, the Starwood SPG American Express.  Back in August 2013, I wrote a post about the SPG Amex 30k point offer, they are now offering 25k points which is still a good deal plus you can earn some more points by referring friends, up to 55k points.

I had several family members apply for a total of 4 cards x 30k = 120k Starpoints.  I also have both the Personal and Business cards because they each give me 2 stays credit towards earning my Platinum status for the next year (for a total of 4 stays towards the goal of 25 required stays).  Its my favorite card because of the rewards (my Peru trip would not be possible otherwise).

Step 3:  Receive your bonus of 5,000 Starpoints per approved referral.
