17,077 Singapore Airline Miles for $9 (a very cheap domestic United flight)

MightyTravels posted how to get 17,077 Singapore Miles for $9.95 (mine came to a little less at $9.00) as well as how to buy more miles cheaply.

UPDATE: DEAL IS DEAD

This is almost enough for a US domestic flight on United (both airlines are Star Alliance partners).

ViewFromTheWing said this offer is so good  that he can't promise it will be honored.  I agree, it does seem too good to be true but it seems worth a try.  If you consider transferring some Amex points to get up to 25,000 miles, you will have “spent” $9 + 8000 Amex points, worth about $129 total for a domestic US flight.  I have a bunch of Amex points doing nothing so this is a good opportunity to use some.  MightyTravels also talks about getting 23,077 miles for buying a premium domain but I think that's too expensive and risky.  This offer already has some hassle so I'm going to just stick with the 17,077 miles because its a really good value.

Kris Flyer Life Lock Promotion

Here's how to do it:

Step 1:  If you don't have a Kris Flyer Account click here to sign up for one for free.
Step 2:  Click here to sign up for the Life Lock Offer through the Kris Flyer Spree shopping portal to get 17,077 KF Miles.   The partner promo code should automatically be there, if not the code is CJULTIMATE.  The total came to $9.00 per month.  You can cancel anytime.
Step 3:   You will need 25,000 miles to have enough for a US Domestic flight on United (which is part of the Star Alliance, as is Singapore Air).  Transfer 8,000 American Express points to your Kris Flyer account and you will have enough for a US Domestic Flight.

How do I use the Singapore Air miles?

OneMileAtATime has two very good articles that will be helpful here

1) using Singapore Airline miles for Domestic US Flights
2) redeeming Singapore Airline miles for Star Alliance awards.

Will this really work?

I'm not sure.  There is a little bit of hassle involved but if it does you'll have almost enough miles for a domestic flight.  I'll let you know if I get my miles.  Are you going to join in?
