Pros: Plenty of food and good service on this short flight.
Cons: Business class has coach seats with the middle seat empty. No entertainment.
We were flying back home on Turkish Air in business class from Maldives to New York with a long layover in Istanbul. After a 7 hour layover in Istanbul during which we took full advantage of Turkish Air's amazing lounge, we boarded the plane to head to Warsaw, our last connection before going back to New York. This was purchased using miles which is detailed on the first part of the trip review (see table below).
- Plane: Airbus A320
- Flight: Istanbul, Turkey to Warsaw, Poland
DUTY FREE
On the way to the plane, I noticed the super large warnings on the cigarettes for sale at Duty Free. Which smoker is really going to care that “Smoking is highly addictive, don't start”? I'm pretty sure anyone picking up this giant box isn't smoking their first cigarette. This pic with a toe tag on a dead guy is probably a little more effective.
There are two entrances to board so everyone can board quickly. And won't even have to see the coach seats! Sort of.
SEATS
The business class section is just coach seating with middle seat empty. The middle seat has a pull down drink tray. Not amazing. If not for the food and service, I would have thought this was coach. For such a short flight, this is more than enough.
One of the other rows was empty so I moved up so the Mrs. could lay down and take a nap. Maybe it was all the food we ate at the Turkish lounge where we waited for the last 7 hours that made us sleepy.
FOOD
Appetizer: And the food starts again. We had lunch and dessert right before leaving the Turkish lounge in Istanbul. I hate to waste food but I could barely put a dent in this meal (and I knew the main course was still coming). I did save the little bottle of delicious olive oil (anyone else have these damn little bottles cluttering up their kitchen cabinets?).
Main Dish: Ok Turkish Airlines, I cannot say no to your delicious food, and you know how I love fish and potatoes. I tried my best to finish this and the rice pudding before falling fast asleep in a food coma (I should have read this buzzfeed post before going on this trip: 10 Way To Recover From a Food Coma). If you have been reading the other posts from this trip, you must think I'm gaining 500 pounds from this trip. Somehow, being active for most of every day during this trip prevents me from gaining any weight at all.
Next stop: The Business lounge in Warsaw where we have a layover for almost 3 hours.
My Camera: These photos were taken using my Canon S110 Digital Camera which has been replaced by the S120. I love it – it's tiny, fits in my pocket, and takes fantastic pictures/videos.
