Marriott 100,000 Bonus Point Offer

Marriott 100,000 Bonus Point Offer

Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card has a new 100,000 bonus point offer. I love 100k bonus credit card offers – unfortunately many of us won't qualify because of the 5/24 rule. But in case you haven't signed up for too many cards, this is a good one to get if you like to stay at Marriott, Starwood, or Ritz-Carlton hotels. While I have too many cards and wont qualify, I'm suggesting this to my family who rarely chases credit card bonuses.

The Offer

  • Get 100,000 bonus points after spending $5k in the first 3 months
  • 15 Elite Night Credits per calendar year (starting 2019, this is very helpful if you're trying to hit your platinum status which requires 50+ nights). I'm not sure how much longer I'll be chasing platinum since reaching Platinum Life status just go harder to reach.
  • 1 Free night award (worth up to 35k points) after each year you keep the card open (and pay the annual fee)
  • Earn 6 points per $1 spent at participating Marriott and SPG hotels, 2 points per $1 on everything else.
  • Silver Elite Status (not really worth much) and Gold Status if you spend $35k each year (also not worth it)
  • $95 annual fee (not waived)

Does this card follow the 5/24 rule?

Yes. So… only apply if you have not applied for too many cards!

What can you do with 100k points?

Potentially… a lot!

For Marriott hotels, you could get 2 nights at the highest category 9 hotels like the New York JW Marriott Essex House, and still have some points left over. If you stay at some of the less expensive category 1 properties such as Fairfield Inn and TownePlace Suites, you could get even more value. Realistically, you probably won't be getting 16 free nights by staying only at the cheapest category 1 at the 6,000 point saver rate, but it's possible. Check out this page to see which properties are in each category. Here's the award chart:

If you prefer Ritz-Carlton properties, you could get up to 5 nights depending on city and time of the year (to get the PointSavers 20k rewards). The Ritz Carlton award chart is below.Marriott Tiers

What I love about this offer

Well, obviously the 100k bonus points. How can I say no to a 100k offer life this? Next I really like the 15 elite stay credits, which is only valuable if you are chasing platinum elite status. The free night on each anniversary is also a nice perk which easily covers the cost of the annual fee, assuming you will use it.
