SUMMARY

During our 5 night stay at The Andaman Resort in Langkawi, Malaysia, we rented a car so that we can explore the island. It turned out that there was plenty to do at the resort and leaving wasn't really all that necessary.  This bike ride was both a great workout and mini-excursion.  I only wish we had noticed the complimentary bikes sooner. The bikes looked new and are probably rarely used…perhaps because of the STEEP driveway to the street.

WHAT TO DO ON THE ISLAND

Temurun Waterfalls wasn't initially on my list of things to do.  While researching Langkawi, I learned about the “Herbwalk Langkawi” and added it to my list.  This was not a “top” thing to do on TripAdvisor but it had good reviews and sounded really interesting to me (the Mrs. wasn't as interested). Unfortunately, when I asked at the front desk, they never heard about it. After some phone calls, it turns out that the owner of the Herbwalk, Dr. Ghani, was having dinner with the owner of The Andaman resort soon.  The front desk let me know that Dr. Ghani was happy to host us for a private tour, however, he no longer maintains the herb garden as he's moved on to other projects. Cancel that idea.

We also considered doing the Cable Car and Mangrove tour but since we enjoyed spending time at the resort so much, we skipped these activities.  The remaining activities on the map were not that interesting for us.

BIKING TO TEMURUN WATERFALL

The Andaman offers 3 new mountain bikes near the entrance (complimentary).  Getting out of the resort was the biggest challenge of the trip. The Temurun Waterfall is about 6km from the resort.

FAKE ROCKS

When you get to the first bridge, stop about midway and you'll notice a passage off to the left.  The rock for the bridge looks real but it's all fake.  If you walk up the stairs you'll see inside the broken “rock” which makes up the bridge.

TEMURUN WATERFALL

When you get to the waterfall entrance, there is a short trail before you get to the falls. We were able to easily take the bikes to about the half way mark then had to leave them to continue to the waterfall.

On the way back is where we met this monkey who came and sat on a fence less than two feet away. It was friendly and as curious as we were. As curious as the monkey was, I had to look at the fence a few times – it looks like wood but its fake – its really metal!

The monkey escorted us back to the exit.

FAMILY VS MONKEY

When a family saw the monkey they decide to feed it cookies (always a good idea).  The monkey liked the cookies so much that it grabbed the entire container and ran away to the tree.  When it opened the box, all the cookies fell out.  The family then started throwing things at the monkey. I thought perhaps people should be throwing things at the family for being so dumb.

My Camera: The pics and video above were taken using my Canon S110 Digital Camera which has been replaced by the S120.  I love it – it's tiny, fits in my pocket, and takes amazing pictures/videos.
