OTHER TIPS

  • Read this to determine if you should apply now or hold off for the 75,000 bonus pt offer
  • Head over to Lucky's blog or FlyerTalk to see how you can use the airline fee credit towards $200 in gift certificates (e.g. AA GC’s).
  • There are many ways to redeem Amex Membership Reward pts, so not going to rehash it here.  My favorite transfer partner is British Airways Avios, which occasionally offers transfer bonuses.
  • 50,000 is the highest offer for this particular product in the recent past.  The highest offer was available more than 2 years ago around February 2013.

    • Datapoints suggest no for personal Amex cards, although the explicit language is extremely vague for this particular offer: If we identify you as currently having an American Express® Card account, you may not be eligible for this welcome bonus offer. This offer is also not available to applicants who have or have had this product.

      • I don’t see this part as vague, “This offer is also not available to applicants who have or have had this product.” That is the standard language on all personal applications as far as I have seen.

  1. When I signed up for this last month I had to use incognito window because if I just used the regular one Amex kept saying I have been identified as a current Amex member even though I have never had this card before. I did get the 50k after 1000 of spend
