UberEATS  is now delivering food in 10 minutes or less!

UberEats just launched in New York City and Chicago after being tested in Los Angeles and Barcelona.  Their new website is UberEats.co (not to be confused with UberEats.com which is a different company).  We'll be able to order from a changing list of excellent restaurants.  I was a little disappointed when I realized they only provide 2 food options and the coverage area only goes from 40th to 14th street in Manhattan (for now).  And you have to wait until 11am to order.  But…for this to work they would have to have the food pre-made in several delivery cars/messengers ready to go. This could be a good way to cash in any expiring ride credits you may have.

I'm getting extremely hungry just writing about this.

 

HOW IT WORKS

Ordering food is just like ordering a ride with the same cashless payment. The service is only available between 11am-2pm and and when you are in the coverage area.  New users can get $20 by signing up with this link.  It's a referral link so we will both get $20 credit – thanks in advance if you use the link!

1. Slide to EATS in the app (bottom right corner)
2. Set your location and click VIEW MENU
3. Choose your meal and quantity
4. Track the meal and meet the delivery person at the curb

TODAY'S MENU

UberEats is offering 2 choices from American Cut Steakhouse, by chef Marc Forgione:  1) spring-fresh salad ($12) or 2) NYC Cut pastrami sandwich ($15).

 

PRICING

These lunches are not cheap but you are ordering from nice restaurants. For the NYC Cut Sandwich, the cost is $20.33 ($15 + tax + $4 delivery fee). I'm pretty sure I would still be hungry after eating this sandwich (and not very happy after spending $20 on it) . The service will probably make more sense if you are ordering with some friends or catering (since corporate catering rips you off anyway, might as well get a gourmet meal for around the same price).

 

COVERAGE AREA

The New York City coverage area is limited right now to 40th – 14th St.
