Mattress Running (NYC Region): $108 for ~7,000 Hyatt pts – Hyatt Regency Greenwich, CT

GWICH_P045

A year ago, I posted about how I scored 7,000 Hyatt points for $98.  The deal is back againHyatt Regency Greenwich is offering 2,000 bonus pts for stays between August 1st – 31st, 2014.  This offer stacks on top of other discount codes available.  I haven’t tried every code available yet, but AAA tends to offer the lowest from what I have seen.  No code needed to book the AAA rate – just make sure you check the box.

Checking August 1st yields a AAA rate of $108, which includes breakfast for 2 at the hotel restaurant… a moot point since breakfast for 2 at the hotel restaurant is automatic when the club lounge is closed (for Diamond members).

Breakdown of points (from prior post):

2,000pts – Hyatt G promo (GW2000) until end of August
1,000pts – Diamond amenity
2,500pts – Closed Regency Club Lounge (always closed on the weekend)
1,000pts – First 6 nights Diamond challenge
~ 500pts – Normal stay credit + Hyatt Chase credit card
7,000pts – Total

The Catch:

Diamond status is required to receive the 1k Diamond amenity and the 2.5k bonus for the closed lounge.  If you don't have Diamond status, click here to learn about getting trial Diamond status for 60 days.  Trial Diamond status awards you with 1k bonus for each of your first 6 nights.  If you live in the NYC region, had Hyatt stays planned in September, and wanted Diamond status, mattress running to the Hyatt Regency Greenwich in August will help you get Diamond status for almost 2 years.

Tips:

The Hyatt Regency Greenwich generally releases bottom of the barrel rates based on capacity.  Searching 1 week+ out will yield rates in the $140 – $250 range.  Searching a few days before check-in is the way to go.  Just keep in mind you need to book Friday or Saturday nights since the Regency Club is closed on weekends.  Check out my prior post on How I Scored 7,000 Hyatt Points for $98 if you are looking for things to do around town.

Other Considerations:

If you don’t live in the NYC tri-state area, here is a list of Hyatt properties that have some sort of special offer.

  1. I know that people can book stays without actually staying at a property. I just so happen to live 15 minutes away from Greenwich. My wife would love to take advantage of this offer. Let me know if you need me to stay for you. 😉

    • There is always a risk that the Front Desk may request for the Diamond member to show up – especially since the status is what’s driving 3,500 bonus pts (1k amenity + 2.5k closed lounge benefit)

  2. I’m up to 16 stays so far this year on my quest to requalify for diamond status. Strangely, I’ve never stayed at the Greenwich property, though I have heard all about it.

Did you bring a car, and did you valet with them or park on the street?

    • You have to drive there. It’s not like NYC where you can take public transportation there. They have self parking in the back of the hotel. I believe valet costs extra.

  3. I’ve gone twice to the new Hyatt Place Flushing. It’s right on the #7 and for months before opening they had a really great state government rate (which I’m eligible for) so I made reservations thoughout the year. I’ve blogged about it – it makes a great staycation.
