THE OFFER

  • $95 annual fee is waived the first year
  • 3x points on travel purchases, 2x points on dining/entertainment
  • No foreign transaction fees

EXPIRATION DATE: TBD

WHY YOU SHOULD GET IT

This is the highest bonus this card has offered but does that mean you should apply right away? Not exactly. To get the biggest bang for your buck, you can combine this and the Citi Prestige®, which I have written in more detail here. In a nutshell, if you have both cards you can redeem them at 1.6 cents each for cash paid American Airlines flights. If not, you will at least be able to redeem the points for $750 worth of flights.

I would use the points for cash paid flights on American Airlines — which is especially great because you don't have to stress about finding an award flight.

There are quite a few travel partners but unless you are experienced in the points game, you may not recognize many of the airline partners. The best value for the points getting the Premier and the Prestige card as mentioned above. You won't need to worry about transferring to these partners for now but that is always an option.

Are you signing up? What are you planning to do with the points?

  1. I am strongly considering applying (mostly to transfer to Singapore Airlines). This card has been on my list of cards to get for a while. The only problem is I just applied for a few other credit cards early this week and am not looking forward to increasing my minimum spend requirements. I’ll probably end up applying since I hate to pass up good offers.

      • Hopefully Singapore Suites. I flew on one of the shorter routes earlier this year but hoping to fly a longer route next time. But open to other uses as well:)

  2. What is the likely hood that the purchase of gift Cards to meet the minimum requirement be view as CASH Advance for both Prestige and the Platinum credit cards.

  3. I went to sign up for the Citi Premier card for the 60k miles and i keep getting “A system error has caused a delay in processing your application. Please try again later.” Does this mean the deal is over??
    Thanks!

    • Yes, sorry its expired. I just updated it and added the current offer: 50,000 point bonus after $3k spend in 3 months.
