The iPhone 5c was released for Pre-Order Friday the 13th (9/13/13) for delivery next week on 9/20/13. Unlike last year, I didnt wake up at 3am to pre-order the iPhone since I’m still under contract. I have the 5 and also don’t see any reason to upgrade at this point. Also unlike last year, you can still pre-order pretty much everywhere (its not sold out). If you plan to get one, it would be best to pre-order and follow the steps below to get it for cheaper than at the stores.
How to Pre-Order iPhone 5C for FREE (16gb) or $84 (32gb) on Verizon
Step 2: In the search box, search for Verizon Wireless, Sprint, AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile.
Step 3: Click the red SHOP NOW button, (Click “Cash Back Terms” above the red button to see the amount of the cash back.) When the wireless carrier’s website opens up, order the phone you want.
Step 4: Wait for the cash back to arrive in your account. I used them last year to get $75 cash back when I opened my account but they increased that this year.
Here are the payouts I found:
- Verizon Wireless: $115 cash back with a new contract
- Sprint: $40 cash back with iPhone ($80 for all other devices)
- AT&T: $45 cash back with a 2 year contract
- T-Mobile: $75 cash back with a 2 year contract
Final Price: The final price depends on which carrier you sign up with. For example:
- 16gb $99 -$115 cash back (Verizon) = Free (you might make $16)
- 32gb $199 – $115 cash back (Verizon) = $84
What if I’m not getting a new account and paying full price? How can I maximize miles and points?
So you are not eligible for an upgrade eh? Me neither. If you go to Fatwallet.com (link here) you can get 1% Cash Back. ShopDiscover.com has 5% Cash Back but the new iphones are excluded. If you got one of the new Amex Cards that I posted about recently (link here or here), Amex recently announced that you get double points for purchases at Apple, as TPG points out here. So you can double dip by using Fatwallet and your Amex card, and soon you’ll hit the 50k bonus or the Starwood point bonus.
I’ve posted the introduction video and Keynote if you want to learn more about the 5C (and 5S, iOS7, etc)
